Nigeria meets Benin, Niger over Border Closure

Nigeria is in closed meeting with neighboring countries on the recent closure of the border.

TThe Tripartite Committee Meeting by the Foreign Ministers of Nigeria, Benin and Niger Republic is to consider the conditions established by Nigeria before the land borders for the importation of goods to be opened.

The federal government committee had met about fifteen days ago to establish the conditions for the reopening of the country’s borders for the importation of goods from neighboring countries.

Nigeria has also insisted that neighboring countries must comply with the rules of origin of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) if they are to bring goods into the country.
